2008 Summer Program Information

The 2008 Summer Program will be held June 23 to August 1 at Wedgeworth Elementary School, 16949 Wedgeworth Drive in Hacienda Heights. Members will receive the first mailing of the program and a $10 discount for every class taken.

YSC Board Meeting

The next YSC Board meeting will be on Monday April 28 at 7 pm at the South Coast Air Quality District office, 21865 Copley Drive, Diamond Bar. We welcome and need your participation in helping to plan the future of the YSC. This is a very exciting time to be a part of the YSC!

2007 Summer Program Information

December 10, 2004 - Citicorp Presents Grant to YSC

Hacienda Heights -- Financial Center Manager George Guo of the Rowland Heights Citibank Office is shown presenting a $2,000 check to Executive Director Ling-Ling Chang and Vice-President Ron Chong of the Youth Science Center. The award took place at the Science Center classroom at Wedgeworth Elementary School. The funds will be used for an outreach Lego robotics program and for summer scholarships.

November 19, 2004 - Dinner Gala Dazzles 200 Guests

It wasn't a Hollywood extravaganza, but it was pretty close as the YSC's first award dinner made a great impression on 200 guests at the Pacific Palms Conference Resort on November 19. Months of planning under the leadership of Executive Director Ling-Ling Chang paid off as the event went off without a hitch.

Honorees at the event included 94 year-old Bob Fisler, one of the original founders of the Science Center when it was formed in 1962; the Hacienda-La Puente School District for its long-time support and cooperation; CalTech JPL for advances in space science; and McDonald's owner Mark Brownstein for his philanthropic contributions to the YSC and the community.

The event began with a giant silent auction with over 100 gift baskets and certificates. Adding to the festivities was the organ playing of Florence Callanta, who showed off her talents by playing two keyboards simultaneously.

The evening's entertainment featured a high-tech magic show by Justin Rivera and a video featuring the summer activities of the YSC at Fairgrove Academy and Wedgeworth School.
